Updates

What's new and what's coming

We build Unavoidable Health with the people using it. Here's what we're working on next, and everything we've shipped so far. No dates, because we'd rather do it properly.

What's new

v5.4

Made for walkers and runners

  • Log a past workout: forgot to track one? Add it for any day in the last 30, from Train or from any quick start
  • Steps for any day: add or fix your steps for the last week from your week view
  • Start when you're ready: tapping Walk, Run or Cycle now asks first, with a big Start button, so nothing starts by accident
  • Km or miles: pick how you see distances in Me, Workout, or tap the distance column while you train
  • Pace: runs and walks show your time per km or mile, rides show your speed and swims show time per 100m
  • Distance per week: a new chart on Progress shows how far you walk, run and ride each week. Trainers see it for clients who share workouts
  • What's coming: see what we're building next, in Me or on our website

v5.3

Kinder by design

  • Hide the numbers: one switch in Me hides calories, weight and measurements everywhere, so you can focus on strength, workouts, protein, fibre, water and mood. Turn it on or off any time
  • Take a break: pause your plan, turn off all notifications or delete your health details from Me, with no fuss
  • Effort, not bodies: challenges and effort points are now about workouts, active days and steps. Nobody is ranked by weight, and weighing in or logging food never earns points
  • Kinder words: going over a target is shown as information, not a warning, and your weekly recap now celebrates personal bests
  • Keeping it kind: names, group names and messages can't include words that put down anyone's body

v5.2

Body measurements, Swedish and Danish

  • Body measurements: track your waist, chest, arms, legs and more in cm or inches on the Progress tab, set a goal for each and see a graph of how they change. Only you can see them
  • Trainers only see your measurements if you tick Body measurements when you share with them
  • Two more languages: Swedish and Danish, following your phone. Change it any time in Me, Language

v5.1

French, Spanish and Italian

  • Three more languages: French, Spanish and Italian, following your phone. Change it any time in Me, Language

v5.0

Your language, quieter notifications, easier sharing

  • Your language: the app now speaks German, Dutch, Polish and Portuguese, following your phone. Change it any time in Me, Language
  • Mute a friend: turn off notifications when a particular friend trains, from their page or Me, Notifications. They aren't told
  • Easier sharing: share a workout picture straight to WhatsApp or Discord. On a computer it copies the picture, ready to paste
  • New exercises you add are yours straight away, and we check them before they go in everyone's list

v4.8

Scan to join

  • Show my QR code: in Me, or the QR button in Together. Someone scans it with their phone camera to sign up, or sign in, and add you as a friend

v4.7

Clearer exercise history graphs

  • History graph: tap the graph button on any exercise in your workout to see how your weights have moved, with your best day marked
  • Pick what to see: heaviest weight, estimated max or total volume, over the last month, 3 months, 6 months, year or all time
  • Tap or drag along the graph to see exactly what you lifted on any day. Friends you train with can be added to compare

v4.6

Personal trainers

  • Personal trainers: turn on the trainer tools in You to invite clients by email, see the progress each client chooses to share, add training days to their Train page, set targets and message them
  • Your trainer's brand: trainers can add their logo and colour, shown on your Home screen, training days and share pictures
  • Training with a PT? Accept their invite and tick exactly what they can see. Nothing is shared until you tick it, and you can change it, report or disconnect any time from You

v4.5

Workout overviews and sharing to social media

  • Workout overview: tap any workout to see a clean one-screen summary of what you did, ready to screenshot. Switch to All sets for every set
  • Share to social media: turn a workout into a picture for an Instagram post or story, WhatsApp, Facebook and more, with the option to hide your weights

v4.4

Share workouts with friends

  • Share a workout: open a finished workout or one of your training days and tap Share with friends. Pick who gets it and add a note
  • Your friend sees the exercises, sets, reps and rest (never your weights or notes) and can add it to their routines in one tap

v4.3.1

See which version you have

  • App version on the You page shows exactly which version you are running, checks for a newer one and updates in one tap
  • Feedback now includes your app version automatically, so we can fix things faster

v4.3

Security check-up

  • A full independent security review of the app, with the issues it found fixed
  • Changing your email: your sign-in email only changes once you confirm the new address, and it needs a code from your authenticator app if two-step sign-in is on
  • If someone signed up with your email before you, proving the email is yours now hands the account over clean
  • Tighter limits on emails the app sends, and private details are kept out of the offline cache

v4.2

Supplements and medicine: a private daily tick list

  • Supplements and medicine on Your day: add creatine, vitamins or your own medicine, choose how many times a day, and tick each one off. Private and encrypted, never shown to friends

v3.8

Your day on one page, fibre, mood check-ins and a private diary

  • Your day on Home: calories, protein, fibre, carbs, fat, steps, workout, weight, water, hunger and mood, each with its target, plus how many targets you hit
  • This week: tap the tab to see which days you hit each target, with your weekly averages. Go back to earlier weeks with the arrows
  • Fibre is now tracked for every food (the NHS recommends 30g a day), and food labels say Protein, Carbs, Fat and Fibre in full
  • Steps and hunger: add your steps and how hungry you felt, right from Home
  • Mood check-in and diary: say how you feel, pick any feelings that fit and write a private note. Only you can see it, and it is encrypted on our server
  • Support when you need it: if you check in feeling low, we show free, confidential helplines you can call, text or email. Always there under Me, Need to talk to someone?
  • Safer sign-in and privacy: a full independent security review, with every finding fixed. Stronger protection against password guessing, old reset links and sign-in codes stop working when you change your email or password, and a download for your progress photos
  • Progress photos (Progress page): add front, side or back photos and compare any two side by side, with your weight then and now. Only you can see them, and they are encrypted on our server
  • Mood now sits in Your day, just above Hunger
  • Brighter: the app uses the bright Unavoidable green for everyone again. Want your own colour for buttons and rings? Pick it under Me, Your colour
  • Sign in without a password: tap Email me a sign-in code and type the 6 digits. Handy on a new phone or in the home-screen app
  • Get the app: step-by-step help to put Unavoidable Health on your home screen, for iPhone, Android and Samsung
  • Rowing: your split per 500m shows as you log, and 20+ minutes of rowing, cycling, swimming or other cardio counts towards your steps target
  • Concept2 Logbook: connect it under Me, Connected apps and your ErgData rows come in automatically
  • Quick start: Row machine, Treadmill and Cross trainer added next to Walk, Run, Yoga and the rest
  • Fixed: correcting your weight now updates it everywhere, including your plan and calculator. If you correct the weight your plan started from, we offer to update your plan
  • Choose your targets: Home shows the name of every target and ticks off the ones you hit. Tap Choose your targets to switch any on or off (carbs and fat can be added too) and change the numbers

v3.7

Notifications, saved meals, your weekly recap and the Me tab

  • Notifications (Me, Notifications): training day reminders, a weekly weigh-in nudge, cheers and when friends train. Choose exactly which you get
  • Your week: a recap card on Home at the weekend and on Monday, plus an optional Sunday email
  • Saved meals: save a meal you eat often and add it in one tap (Add, Meals)
  • Undo after removing a food, a set or an exercise
  • Signed-in devices: see where you're signed in and sign out any of them (Me, Privacy and security)
  • Update button: when we release a new version, a bar at the bottom tells you and one tap brings it in. Nothing you've logged is lost
  • Me tab: your profile, plan, privacy and settings are now one tap away at the bottom of the screen
  • Realistic step goals: your plan now starts from how active you are (and your steps, if you know them) and builds up gently, with goals that suit your age
  • Keep your account secure: a reminder on Home and a status row on Me make it easy to turn on two-step sign-in
  • Confirm your password when you sign up or change it, with a Show passwords option
  • New-look emails, and email links now always open the app

v3.6

Email confirmation and a security check-up

  • Confirm your email: new accounts get a link by email. Confirming unlocks adding friends by nickname, the boards and challenges. Everything else works straight away
  • Changing your email sends a fresh confirmation link to the new address
  • Block people: when you remove a friend or decline a request, you can block them too. Declined requests can't be re-sent for 30 days
  • Friend codes and invite links renew every 30 days
  • Weight progress is now private until you choose to share it with friends (Together, What friends can see)
  • Your food diary is wiped from the phone when you sign out, and friends' diaries are never stored on it
  • Admin changes need two-step sign-in and your password, and admins send people a reset link rather than setting their password
  • Security check-up ahead of the App Store and Google Play apps

v3.5

Exercise library, Android import and 24 new recipes

  • Android import: bring in workouts and weigh-ins from Health Connect, Google Fit or Samsung Health (You, Connected apps). The file is read on your phone; only workouts and weigh-ins are sent
  • Choose whether friends can see imported workouts, or keep them just for you
  • 24 new recipes, now 50 in total: shakshuka, a lighter cottage pie, chicken tikka fakeaway, cod tacos, energy balls and more
  • Exercise library (Train): explore by muscle, search every exercise, and open any exercise for its target muscles, form guide, your history and progress
  • Form guides are ready for short demo clips, and no longer send you off to YouTube
  • Security: two-step sign-in now also protects password resets, stronger limits on repeated guesses, and an admin option to help people who lose their phone

v3.4

Bring in your watch workouts

  • Apple Health import: bring in workouts and weigh-ins from your iPhone and Apple Watch (You, Connected apps). The file is read on your phone; only workouts and weigh-ins are sent
  • New activities for imported workouts: strength session, HIIT, tennis, football, dance, golf and climbing

v3.3

Recipe ideas, your colour and a weight-lost medal

  • Recipe ideas on the Food page: 26 healthy recipes with calories and protein per serving, and one tap to add them to your diary
  • Your colour now changes the whole app's highlight colour, straight away
  • Weight lost medal: half a stone, then 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 stone (shown in your units). It stays private unless you share full weight numbers
  • Fixed: friend requests could show the wrong profile photo

v3.2

Two-step sign-in and stronger privacy

  • Two-step sign-in: add a code from an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, 1Password) so a stolen password alone can't get in. Turn it on under You, Privacy and security
  • Delete my health details: remove your body details, plan and weigh-ins (and optionally your food diary) while keeping your account
  • Invite links now ask before adding someone as a friend
  • Friends only see the medals that match what you share with them, and challenge scores are only shown to people taking part
  • Security upgrades throughout, following an independent review

v3.1

A much better barcode scanner and food search

  • New barcode scanner: the same engine dedicated scanner apps use, built in. Far more reliable on iPhones, in dim light, with small or crumpled barcodes, and from photos
  • Food search that finds normal food: 390+ more everyday UK foods, drinks and meals, with the ones you mean first ("milk" shows milk, not milk chocolate)
  • Search understands plurals, UK and US spellings and nicknames, like "bananas", "yogurt", "coke", "fries" or "cuppa"
  • Tap Go on your keyboard to search, and branded products from shops now appear automatically underneath
  • Zero-calorie drinks (water, diet and zero sugar) now scan properly

v3.0

Profile photos, a smoother start and new medals

  • Profile photos: add a headshot on your profile and choose who sees it, your friends or only you
  • Welcome checklist on Home: five quick firsts, and finishing them earns the new Getting started medal
  • Brand new medals: each tier adds a piece, from studs and a crest at Gold to wings at Platinum and Elite, up to the glowing Legend
  • Used the calculator on our website? Your plan is ready the moment you sign up, built from the numbers you entered
  • Joined from a friend's invite? You're friends straight away and we tell you so

v2.9

Form guides, quick start and help

  • Form guides for every exercise: tap the "i" next to an exercise for set-up, step-by-step, coaching cues, common mistakes and easier or harder versions
  • Quick start on Train: one tap for a Walk, Run, Cycle, Swim, Yoga or Hike with the timer already running
  • Help: tap the ? button for instant answers, a getting-started checklist, or to message the team
  • Bigger buttons and links throughout, so everything is easier to tap on smaller phones

v2.8

Nicknames and friend requests

  • Pick a unique nickname (lower-case letters and numbers) so friends can add you without ever seeing your email
  • Adding someone by nickname sends a friend request they can accept or decline. Friend codes and invite links still add straight away
  • Sign in with your email or your nickname

v2.7

Privacy and security

  • New Privacy and security page under You: see exactly who can see what, sign out of every device, and download your data
  • Your email is now never shown to friends
  • Changing your email needs your password, and changing your password signs out other devices and emails you
  • Stronger sign-in protection: common passwords are refused and repeated wrong guesses lock that account for 15 minutes
  • When you add your first friend, you choose exactly what they can see

v2.6

Smarter training

  • How hard was that? After a set, tap how many more reps you had left. Weight suggestions now use it: easy sets move you up sooner, grinders hold you steady
  • Plateau spotting: stuck on the same best set for 3 sessions? We suggest a lighter week or a swap to get moving again
  • Set types: tap the set number for warm-up, drop set or to failure
  • Warm-ups worked out for you from today's working weight (exercise menu)
  • Plates on the bar: barbell exercises show which plates go on each side for your next set. Change the bar weight in the exercise menu
  • Rest timers remembered per exercise, and a How to do it form guide for every exercise
  • Copy a workout: save any workout, yours or a friend's, as a routine
  • Sets per muscle on Progress, against the 10 to 20 a week that builds muscle well

v2.5

Easier start and a Beta menu

  • Setting up is calmer: skip your height or weight if you don't know them, and we'll gently remind you later
  • Your first weigh-in fills in a skipped weight automatically
  • New Beta menu (top of Home, and under You): tell us what's broken, confusing or brilliant, and see what happens to your feedback

v2.4

Smart check-ins, nudges and water

  • Weekly check-in: we compare what you actually ate with how your weight moved, work out what you really burn, and suggest a new calorie target. Small, safe steps, and you choose whether to use it
  • Give a nudge: from Wednesday, Home shows friends who haven't trained yet this week, with a one-tap nudge
  • Water: tap a glass to log 250 ml, right on the Food page
  • Download everything: your food log, weigh-ins and workouts as spreadsheets, or all your data in one file (You → Download)

v2.3

Food from around the world

  • Search now covers about 4 million products from 150+ countries, with ones sold in your country shown first
  • Barcode scans are quicker and more reliable: one lookup instead of several, with a clear message if the database is busy
  • Products a member adds from the label now work for everyone who scans that barcode
  • Bad data is caught: impossible calorie values are flagged so you can check the label, and missing calories are worked out from the macros
  • Product names show in your language where available

v2.2

Rise together: new look and free beta

  • New Rise Together logo and app icon: two chevrons pointing up, you and your people
  • Unavoidable Health is in free beta. Tell us what you think, it shapes what comes next
  • The calculator on unavoidable.health uses exactly the same maths as the app, and your answers carry straight into sign-up
  • Fonts now load from our own server: faster, and they work offline

v2.1

Together: boards, groups and high-fives

  • The Friends tab is now Together, with Friends, Groups and Everyone boards
  • Opt-in boards: nobody appears until they agree. Boards show a display name, effort points, workouts, medals and streaks, never weight, food or body details
  • Effort points reward showing up: workouts, a weekly weigh-in, logging food, encouraging others and hitting your weekly target. Capped and reset every Monday
  • Every board leads with a shared goal, so everyone works towards the same number
  • Groups: start one, share the code, set a weekly team goal and build a team streak
  • High-fives for anyone on the boards, and member cards with medals and streaks

v2.0

Unavoidable Health: plans, friends and achievements

  • New name: Unavoidable Health, by Unavoidable Studio. Anyone can now sign up
  • Calorie calculator and 12-week plan: your age, height, weight, lifestyle and goal (lose, build, maintain or get fitter) set your calories, protein and training, and show when you could reach your goal
  • Progress hub: road to goal with milestones, quick weigh-in, an 8-week consistency heatmap, BMI bar, best lifts and strength charts
  • Friends: everyone has a friend code. Add friends, send encouragement, cheer workouts and choose exactly what they can see
  • Challenges: most workouts, most weight lifted, most weigh-ins and more, with live leaderboards
  • Medals: 16 to collect, each climbing from Bronze to Legend, from weekly check-ins to personal bests
  • Share pictures of your progress, workouts and achievements
  • Body weight in kg, stones and pounds, or pounds. Sign in with email and reset forgotten passwords

v1.2.1

Scanner fix

  • Fixed: some snack bags (e.g. Walkers French Fries from multipacks) wouldn't scan or look up
  • Scanner reads more barcode types and tries the database's padded barcode formats
  • Typed barcode numbers are always looked up

v1.2

Faster logging, machines, people and a better scanner

  • One-tap Log set button on every exercise, using last time's numbers
  • Big +/− pad for weight and reps. Hold to count quickly, no keyboard needed
  • Weight steps per exercise (e.g. 2kg dumbbells, 5kg machines)
  • Pin / stack number mode for machines and cables. Tap the Kg ⇄ header to switch
  • Suggests going heavier when you hit the top of your rep range on every set
  • People: admins can add, reset and remove logins under You
  • Barcode scanner checks each code twice and verifies the check digit, has an HD camera, torch and a Photo instead option
  • Drinks and 110+ more foods added: coffees, milks, juices, energy drinks, beer, wine and more
  • This What's new page

v1.1

Pause and 250+ exercises

  • Pause the whole workout. Paused time doesn't count
  • Pause the rest timer
  • Start / pause / stop timer on timed sets like planks and cardio
  • Exercise library expanded to 251, with Traps, Forearms and Mobility groups

v1.0

First release

  • Push, Pull, Legs and Full Body training days with a weekly plan
  • Live set logging with last session's numbers, rest timer and PRs
  • Food log with barcode scanning, targets and copy from yesterday
  • Progress charts, body weight, and installs on your phone
